Podcasts Our Podcasts are like any other one you may have listened to. After you have downloaded the file, either via the RSS Feed or from its individual download page, put the file into your IPOD, Creative Nomad or whatever mp3 device you have. And listen to it! Commentaries Our Commentary Podcasts are a little different. Commentary Podcasts are the same length as the film or television show we are commenting on. After you have downloaded the file, either via the RSS Feed or from its individual download page, put the file into your IPOD, Creative Nomad or whatever mp3 device you have. You then queue up the beginning of the show or movie on your DVD and start our commentary when the tv show or movie starts on your screen. Indiivdual instructions on the precise point to start our commentaries in relation to the action on screen is available on each of the commentaries home pages. While not earth-shatteringly important, ensure you cue the start of the MP3 with the start of the story! Some of our commentaries are scene-specific, and rely on you seeing the action on screen at the same time we talked about it. Pitch correction? What is that all about? As you may be aware, there is a difference in speed between how "fast" (the pitch) an NTSC DVD plays compared to a PAL DVD. The difference works out to about 4%. If you are listening to our commentary while watching your NTSC DVD, you will need to adjust the pitch of our commentary. This will allow you to finish our commentary at the same time as your DVD does (and to keep the comments we make about a scene synchronized with the DVD vision). It is important to slow our commentary down by 4% to get the timings right. Winamp has plenty of plugins to achieve this, and most if not all portable mp3 players have a pitch/speed correction. There is no need to apply the speed correct our commentaries of television shows (they are a straight video to video transfer and are not affected) or our regular podcasts. |
